Workshops for Adults

  • Nature Journaling Native Plants

    Interactive activity + presentation

    Participants will start by exploring a selection of local native plants, using guided observation techniques to notice intricate details like leaf patterns, textures, and colours. This activity not only fosters a deeper connection with nature but also enhances skills in observation and reflection, providing a meaningful way to engage with the natural world.

  • Make your own Native Plant Herbarium

    Hands on activity + presentation

    Participants will have the opportunity to choose from a selection of native plants, using a flower press to preserve these beautiful specimens. Together, we’ll identify various species using books and resources, sketch key elements of the plants, and press the flowers for preservation.

  • Habitat Gardening at Home

    Presentation

    We’ll cover the fundamentals of creating a vibrant, eco-friendly garden using native plants that support local wildlife and conserve resources. We’ll also discuss the ecological benefits of native gardens, such as attracting pollinators and improving soil health. This presentation will inspire you to transform your garden into a thriving habitat that enhances both biodiversity and your enjoyment of nature.

  • Supporting Wildlife with Nesting Boxes

We’ll explore which species can be attracted that require safe spaces to breed and raise their young and discuss the basics of installation and maintenance.

  • Tree Hollow Hideaways!

    Nature craft activity

    Through this hands-on project, kids will discover the importance of tree hollows in providing homes for wildlife and gain a greater appreciation for the role trees play in supporting different species.

  • Blooms, Butterflies, Birds & Bugs!

    Nature craft activity

    Kids will create their own colourful butterflies, birds or bugs using materials like paper, paint, and natural elements. As they design and decorate their creations, they'll also learn about the native plants that these creatures depend on.

  • Bush Bingo!

    Interactive game

    In this engaging activity, each child receives a bingo card filled with images and names of native plants and animals. It’s a lively and educational way to deepen their connection with nature while playing a classic game!

  • We're Going on a Nature Hunt!

    Interactive outdoor activity

    Kids will receive a list of nature items to find, such as colorful leaves, interesting rocks, or animal tracks. With their scavenger hunt checklist in hand, they’ll explore the great outdoors, searching high and low for each item. they’ll learn fun facts about the natural world and discover the beauty of their surroundings.

  • Let's Bio-Blitz!

    Interactive outdoor activity

    Kids will get to create their very own insect hotel using a variety of natural materials. We'll start by decorating small wooden or cardboard boxes with paints and stickers. We'll discuss the different types of insects that might visit their hotels and how these tiny guests help our environment.
